SPI Technology – Solar VFD for Solar Pumping
VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) have for decades been widely used in industrial pumping to control pumps and optimize their energy consumption. They manage the flow rate required per pumping applications. Without VFD, pumps will operate at fixed flow-rates and will always consume maximum power. Solaropia SPI systems (Solar Pumping Inverter-VFD) execute the same functions as industrial VFD with a unique difference –it embeds technologies to operate pumps with Solar Power instead of AC power. Solaropia SPI systems are solar powered technologies dedicated to industrial pumping systems.
SPI is Different from Conventional Solar Inverters
SPI embeds new technologies for solar pumping that makes it about 30% more efficient than conventional solar inverters in operating pumps with solar power (i.e. 30% less solar power cost).SPI eliminates triple loses DC-to-AC power conversion, and with Solaropia Adaptive MPPT for VFD Technology (Patent pending) that adds 10-15% more efficiency in using solar to operate pumps.
Solaropia SPI Replaces Four Systems with One
Solaropia Solar Pumping Inverter VFD (SPI) a complete system that embeds: Solar VFD , PLC Pump Controller, Remote Communication Controller, and Pump Protection Controller. Conventional solar inverters require the above four systems be integrated separately to operate pumps with solar energy. Solaropia SPI replaces these systems (See the diagram below), simplifies the operation of solar pumps and reduces solar pumping cost reduction by 30%.
On Off Grid Operation
Solaropia SPI is a battery-less solar pumping system that operates in three modes.
- Solar Mode: Off grid, ideal for rural locations without grid power.
- Hybrid Mode: Combines Solar and AC backup power from any source (grid or diesel genset).
- AC Mode: Night time operation with utility power or existing genset.
